Levelling Up

A creature gains experience as they go through their lives, buts ones that truly matters are the revealing encounters that shakes the foundation of their lives. After going through such experience, a person often gains an epiphany, unlocking new Skills and knocking down walls that seemed so impossible to climb yesterday. This experience is colloquially known as Levelling Up.

Gaining Experience

Not all actions grant you Experience that will help you in your growth. The Experience that you go through must be monumental enough that exposes you to new aspects of the world. The following are some of the actions that can grant you Experience:

  • Quest. Experience is awarded at the end of a story arc. You gain Experience equal to the Tier of the story as determined by the Fates.
  • Battle. Experience is awarded after defeating an enemy. You gain Experience equal to the Tier of the defeated creature (once per creature type).
    If you flee from an encounter, you can earn half as much Experience (rounded down). You will earn the other half when you defeat them in the future.
  • Befriend. Experience is awarded when you befriend an ally. You gain Experience equal to Tier of the creature or faction that is willing to do a favor for you without expecting anything in return (once per creature).
  • Explore. Experience is awarded when you arrive at a new location. You gain Experience equal to the Tier of the location that you discover (once per location).
  • Unravel. Experience is awarded when you unravel a secret. You gain Experience equal to the Tier of the hidden lore and new knowledge that you learn about (once per secret).
  • Enjoy. Experience is awarded when you take a break from your adventure and connect with the people. You gain 1 Experience for actively participating in a local tradition or celebration with locals (once per story arc as determined by the Fates).

Levelling Up

Whenever you gain Experience and your new total reaches a new Experience threshold, you can Level Up. This can happen instantly or can be held for an appropriate moment. When you Level Up, you can choose to increase the level of your Race or a Class. This will usually grant you one or more of the of the following benefits:

  • Additional Wear Limit. You are able to endure more injuries.
  • Additional Skills. New Active and Passive abilities granted by your Class or Race.
  • Attribute Increase. Increase the Favored attribute of your Race or Class.

Experience Thresholds

Upon reaching certain amounts of Experience, a creature will reach an epiphany that allows them to grow significantly in an instant; Level Up. The mount of Experience needed to attain a certain Level is as follows:
